Ascot trainer Trevor Andrews went to the recent Magic Millions Perth yearling sale with one task in mind for the Belhus group, and that was to find us a good, early running type at an affordable price-and it looks like he’s done it because what a nice colt this is!
He’s by the evergreen winner getting stallion MAGNUS who on the track was a winner at the highest level (Group 1) and at stud has done exceedingly well having produced Group 1 winners too. MALAGUERRA, MAGNIFISIO and GREAT SHOT are each Group 1 winners, and they head an impressive list of winners sired by Magnus including ENBIHAAR (G2 Blue Diamond Fillies Prelude), MAGNAPAL (G3 Naturalism Stakes), the 3 time Listed winner and Perth trained MALIBU STYLE, and also the Magic Millions Perth 2yo Classic winner THE RIVER. Even at the time of writing, our very own flying filly in NSW Norske Code has had just 4 starts for 2 wins carrying the blue and white Belhus colours. There’s hardly a week goes by without the progeny of Magnus winning somewhere around Australia-or even in Asia too-and his winners to runners ratio in excess of 70% is among the highest in Australia and puts him easily in the top 5 taking into account all stallions!
This colt hails from a good female family, and he’s a half brother to 3 city winners. His first dam Arcade Game was a city winner who at stud has produced 3 winners, his second dam Balfine was a stakes winner of 7 races to a mile, while at stud has had 5 to race with every one them a winner including the multiple Melbourne winner and stakes placed Our Spur. Further down his pedigree page, his third dam Fine Arcade, although unraced has produced 8 winners including the very good Perth sprinter Corporate Memory. It’s a well known Western Australian family that just keeps on producing winners, and of course with the success of Magnus’s progeny locally through horses like Magnifisio, Great Shot, The River and Malibu Style etc, we’re very hopeful that he’ll be adding his name to the list too!
From a physical point of view, he’s very impressive as you can see from the photo. He’s a correct individual, a strong muscular type who looks like he’s capable of running early and maybe be a candidate for the Magic Millions race at Pinjarra next year amongst others. He’s eligible for the Westspeed Incentive Scheme which means a chance of greater returns for owners, and of course, he’ll be trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews who has enjoyed so much success over more than two decades now.
This is a 20 share syndicate priced at $4,750/share which includes all associated agistment and horse costs to March 31st 2019, the Westspeed bonus scheme and the Magic Millions (Perth only) race series, and insurance.
